ITP is creating a new Aeronautics Advanced Manufacturing Center (CFA in its Spanish acronym) to be opened in the Basque Country, fruit of a collaboration between 14 companies from the Aeronautics and Machine Tool sectors, the University of the Basque Country, the Basque Regional Government and the Regional Council of Biscay. The CFA will begin operations in 2015 from the Biscay Technology Park in Bilbao. It aims to act as a test bed for new aeronautical parts and applications developed by companies and technology centers in the Basque Country, similar to other centers that exist in the UK and Germany. During the presentation of the CFA project, ITP General Manager Ignacio Mataix explained how the initiative is responding to a specific need “shared by ITP and many other companies with very high-tech products that are exported internationally.”
